Chameli Devi, March 4, 1928; 4 s. and 1 d.; Social Worker and Agriculturist; previously associated with Jan Sangh; participated in the freedom movement since student days (1921); look active part in the "Quit India" movement in 1942; was jailed with other freedom fighters for organising black flags demonstration against the Governor of Uttar Pradesh; Acting General Secretary, Bhartiya Jan Sangh, 1976; President, Arya Vir Dal, Punjab; 1940; Chief Controller and Organiser of International Arya Vir Dal, 1940—77; Joint Secretary, 1963-64 and 1966—71 and General Secretary, 1971—76 of International Aryan League; Secretary, Savadeshik Foreign Vedic Mission, 1966—76; Patron Adrash Vidyalaya, Vehjoi District Muradabad, President, (i) Bhartiya Mazdoor Sangh of the Bharat Heavy Electricals, Hardwar and (ii) Rashtriya Shramik Sangh of Antibiotics Plant, Rishikesh, 1975—77; Member; (i) Lok Sabha, 1967—70 and (ii) Rajya Sabha 1972— 77.
Social activities: For character-building of the boys and girls of India and abroad, organised International Arya Vir Dal under Savadeshik Arya Pratinidhi Sabha in 1940; as a Relief Incharge, served the cyclone affected people in Midnapur (West Bengal) in 1942; led a relief team and worked for one year for the famine affected people of Bengal in 1943-44; went with three hundred volunteers of Arya Vir Dal for relief work in riot affected area of Noakhali (East Bengal) in 1946; organised relief centres run by Arya Samaj in Delhi and in many places of West Bengal for the help of refugees coming to India in millions in 1947; worked for six months to provide relief work to the victims of earthquake in Assam in, 1951; served the people terrorised by the Razakars in Hyderabad; started a Dayanand Home for East African Orphans at Nairobi in 1964; started inter-caste marriage movement in 1971; organised a big International Religious Conference in Mauritius and took one chartered ship and plane with about 1800 Indians to take part in the Conference in 1973; running about fifty Dayanand Sewashrams in the States of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa and Uttar Pradesh inorder to uplift tribal people socially and educationally through education, dispensary and handicrafts; takes keen interest in the work and activities of Arya Samaj.

Publications: Author of about 25 books on religious, social and political themes.
Sports and clubs: Yoga and yoga exercises.
Travels abroad: Visited East African and European countries and Mauritius as a Vedic Missionary.
