TYAGI, SHRI DHARAMVIR SINGH, M.A., [Congress (I)—Uttar Pradesh, Muzaffarnagar, 1984]  s. of Pandit Ramgopal Sharma; b. at Muzaffarnagar  February 13, 1935; ed, at Tyagi High School, Muzaffarnagar, D.A.V. College, Dehradun, Lucknow University, Lucknow, S.D. Collage, Muzaffarnagar; Unmarried; Agriculturist; previously associated with Praja Socialist Party and Bharatiya Kranti Dal; led the famous "Kisan Andolan" in 1963 and was detained in jail for three months; District Secretary, Praja Socialist Party, Muzaffarnagar, 1962-64; Member, Uttar Pradesh Congress (I) Committee since 1972; Vice-President of District Congress (I) since 1977; Manager, Shiksha Sadan Higher Secondary Girls School, Muzaffarnagar; President, Students' Union, S.D. Degree College, Muzaffarnagar; Member, Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, 1969-74 and 1980-85.
Favourite pastime and recreation:  Chess and Tourism.
Special interests:  To solve the problems of the people of rural areas and sugarcane growers and making efforts for the development and  expansion of small scale industries in rural areas.
Publication:  "Chinese Menderinism" in English and "Cheene Mandrinivad"—(Hindi version).
